Supporting Stripes
*LIMITED EDITION
The zebra is one of the animals most synonymous with African wildlife and yet one that's so often overlooked.
Personally, I never pass up a chance to watch these beautiful equids - I find their behaviours fascinating and you never know when a photographic opportunity will present itself! Plus, their black and white coats and the pattern of their stripes can be challenging, so trying to create a captivating photo of zebras is a challenge for me.
Whilst it may look adorable, this 'hugging' behaviour is very useful and is often exhibited by zebra. Rather than making themself vulnerable to attack by predators when they lie down to sleep, zebras can rest standing up. This hug position alleviates the strain from their neck whilst allowing the individuals to remain vigilant and spot any approaching carnivores!
